Front Stage......
Anna:
It all started when I joined a local amateur dramatics group when I was about
6 years old. I knew I felt something when I was on stage, performing was my
passion, and the fact that I’m a complete show off!! When I was 12 years old I
was given the main part in the pantomime Dick Whittington, I was in my element.
Then I discovered pubs (when I was old enough of course) and karaoke’s, I
could spend every night of the week at a karaoke if there was one. I had to be
doing something right the fact people kept coming up to me and telling me I
should be in a band….ummmm that got me thinking, me in a band? Would any band
actually take me on? Well you don’t know till you try.
So here we are
performing with a great bunch of mates in On The Run!

Back Stage.........
Well! I suppose I had a misspent youth dabbling in all the things I
shouldn't like drink & ???. However 2 passions have stayed with me
since an early age (apart from playing the fool, that is) music &
dare I say it, amateur radio! Yes I'm one of those blokes who do it with
higher frequency!
Anyway back to business. I cut my
teeth musically so to speak, in what can only be classed as a cross between a Hawkwind tribute
band and early punk. Gosh those were heady days and certainly bring
back the memories.
My musical aspirations soon took a back seat
as my other career took off and the family came along!
However my guitar and music were never far away. I soon got the bug again
and could be heard at Christmas parties making a fool of myself but what
the heck? One such gig was 'SWARF' a duo that was formed from the SoftWAre and RF design departments of the company I was working in at
the time. Get it?
Then came my big break (or male menopause?)
in the vein of "Loose Covers" and the "FatBoy 5". And the
rest, as they say is history. I now play rhythm guitar with On The
Run and Bass guitar in new band
StolenMojo
Mine's a pint! Cheers.
When our
original drummer, Mike, showed us the family
tree of all the bands he’s played in and suggested that the rest of us
draw up something similar, I said "Great! Now’s my chance to tell
the world how I once played in the same band as someone who used to be a
member of Solstice!"
"Who?" Ian asked.
I started to tell him about this great
neo-progressive album from the early eighties that I’ve got, but
stopped when I noticed his eyes starting to glaze over.
Actually, the first band I ever played with
was called Paris Green, though it was not so much a band as a motley
assortment of poets and folk musicians with a tendency to take turns in
performance rather than play all together. Well, it was the late
sixties. And we only managed to do a couple of gigs anyway.
More recently, I’ve played with a variety
of pub and club bands, with names like the Y Band, Le Thué (don’t
ask), Gambit’s Runner, Replay, T-Bird Rhythm, and Loose Covers. Some
of them have liked the way I try to avoid playing anything the same way
twice – others haven’t been quite so sure. In fact, one of them (I’m
not saying which!) sacked me for it. Maybe that’s why I get nervous
whenever I open one of Ian’s e-mails.
The trend began in the mid 60s
when I started playing drums to soul music, blues and R&B. In mid 70s I had a long period of time doing experimental music,
you can call it rock fusion under the influence of groups as
Hatfield and the North, Matching Mole, Gong etc.
Late 70s and 80s I shifted to a period of country rock, hard
rock and heavy.
I can say I am versatile in a rock scenario, holding a neat and
sometimes heavy kick. However, I am able to be creative in
rhythm and percussion sounds, building sometimes a deep, gloomy
and warm atmosphere.
I've been touring all over Spain in the 80s with bands with own
repertoire and rock covers. I must say also that I established a
record company in the 90s, and I was playing on and off since
then.
In mid 90s, I was a manager and producer of a pop rock band and
a trash metal band. Finally I did a few tours as road manager in
north Spain.
